The Peter’s Creek Coal Association was formed on May 29, 1986, with the advancement of the mining industry as the primary focus.  The initial meeting was held at the Safari Club Restaurant in Summersville, West Virginia. The original premise of the organization was to represent the coal and rail interest in the Peter’s Creek Watershed in South-Central West Virginia. However, it wasn’t long before the organization had grown to encompass multiple coal producing basins and states reaching West beyond the Mississippi River and North into Pennsylvania and New York. Today we represent the coal interest of producers, rail and barge lines as well as a host of consumers ranging from Public Utilities, Coke and steel producers, industrials and exporters. Our annual golf outing held in Charleston, West Virginia attracts over 125 professionals from the coal industry each June.

In addition to supporting our industry, the Peter’s Creek Coal Association gives back, by way of educational funding. The Peter’s Creek Coal Association in tandem with West Virginia University provides funding for scholarships in Mining Engineering.
